Moving SaaS environments to Public Cloud
In the upcoming months, Microsoft, together with LS Retail, will move all SaaS Environments from the LS Retail Embed Cloud to Microsoft's BC Public Cloud.
This will be done in buckets and the aim is to complete the move of all Environments in the upcoming 6 months. We do not expect to move any environments between the 20th of November and the 1th of January due to the retail high season.
We expect each bucket will take around 4 weeks, but they could overlap each other, meaning we might start moving the next bucket even though the previous bucket hasn’t all been moved.
Hopefully, we can move buckets 1,2 and 3 before the retail high season and then start on bucket 4 after the high season.
The buckets will be the following:
Bucket 1: BE, DE, IE, IS, NL and NO
Bucket 2: DK, FI, FO, and SE
Bucket 3: BE, CH, FR, GR, HU, IE, IT, MT, NL, PL, RO, SI, UA
Bucket 4: HK, MY, PH, SG, and VN
Bucket 5: AU, CA, ES, MX and PR
Bucket 6: CA, GB and US
Bucket 7: AE, EG, IN, LB, QA, SA and ZA
Bucket 8: BG, JM, MA, TH, TN and TT
How will this be done:
1. Once the time has come for a bucket to be moved, we will notify the registered Technical Contact on the Partner Agreement about the timeline and how to prepare by email.
2. We will be using a dedicated service desk (LS – Project Support) to gather all communication and issues regarding this move. Please email us to support@lsretail.com with one or more contacts in cc to request access to the LS – Project Support service desk. Please keep in mind that those who need access to the service desk must already have access to the LS portal.
3. You can create a Sandbox for each of your customers environment, give the sandbox the name “PublicCloud”. Sandboxes with the name “PublicCloud” will be moved daily to the BC Public cloud and the day after the sandbox was created you can test the environment on the BC public cloud. If you would like to start right away to test, then please feel free create sandboxes with the name “PublicCloud” now and start testing Please give special attention to:
4. We won’t move any environments unless we have an approval from a partner that is an Delegated Admin for the environment, we trust that the Delegated Admins has informed the customer about the move. Once the date and time has been confirmed we will notify Microsoft that will schedule the move of the Production environment along with the rest of Sandboxes.
5. Once the move has been completed you will see that the Application Family has changed from LS Central to Business Central.
6. When moving from embed cluster to BC online the database stays intact, but the service is changed from embed to BC Online. This means that the base URL will change from https://lscentral.bc.dynamics.com to https://businesscentral.dynamics.com
For some time, Microsoft will redirect from the previous URL as below.
http://lscentral.bc.dynamics.com not redirected, this will create a new production environment.
https://lscentral.bc.dynamics.com/Production redirected to BC Online
https://lscentral.bc.dynamics.com/Production?company=[company] redirected to BC online and selected company
https://lscentral.bc.dynamics.com/[tenant id]/Production?company=[company] redirected to BC online environment, selected company.
The current integration URL (web service URL) will still work, it will be redirected to the new URL. We recommend switching to the new URL.
7. We recommend that you use Azure security service tags to restrict access to and from Business Central rather than using IP Range
New customers in SaaS
New signups for SaaS Environments for all countries will be set up on the BC Public Cloud from this day forward.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us at support@lsretail.com if you have a customer that is still not live yet and we can move their environments before their go live date to simplify things. Also, if you need or would like to move some customer between buckets you can also contact us, and we will work together on a solution.
We have gathered some FAQ here that we believe could be useful.
