Dynamics NAV issue: Cause, effect and workaround for LS Nav

Posted on 7/6/2018 12:00:00 PM

We at LS Retail would like to inform you, our partners, that we have identified an issue with how Dynamics NAV handles .NET add-in controls events. This issue may affect the LS Nav POS in versions 10.02 - 11.02. When the issue is triggered it can cause an inconsistent transaction being written to the SQL database.

The issue has already been reported to Microsoft but LS Retail has also created a workaround* that is included in the latest release of the LS Nav Toolbox. We highly recommend that customers running versions 10.02 to 11.02 of LS Nav install version 11.03 of the LS Nav Toolbox.

What is the issue?
The issue is in Dynamics NAV, in how the system handles .NET add-in control events.

What could be the effect?
Transaction data could be written to the SQL database in an inconsistent manner.

How likely is it that this will cause inconsistency in the DB?
Very unlikely, according to our research.  However, we strongly recommend users to upgrade to version 11.03 of the LS Nav Toolbox.

Has this been reported to Microsoft?
Yes, the issue has been reported to Microsoft and LS Retail has created a new version of the Toolbox with a workaround for the LS Nav code.

*Please note that this workaround does not apply to custom changes by partners or others.
